MEET ADRIAN
Adrian A. Coard, 34; was born in Manning, SC but raised in Summerton, SC. After graduating for Scott’s Branch High School in 2009, he received an athletic scholarship to be a two sports collegiate athlete in basketball and baseball at Morris College in Sumter, SC. While at Morris College, Adrian majored in Recreation Administration with a minor in Business Administration earning is Bachelor’s in 2013.
Before landing his current role, in 2013, he landed a job in his field with Richland County Recreation Commissions as a Park Manger, but later found love and passion for mental health. Currently, he serves as a mental health professional with 11 years of experience working with ages 7 to 21, suffering from a variety of psychiatric illnesses (trauma recovery, conduct disorder, mood disorder, ADHD, PTSD, substance abuse, and aspersers/autism disorder with children and adults.
Adrian exemplifies dedication, leadership, and a commitment to uplifting his community, making a lasting impact on the lives of many. Adrian has a strong passion for giving back to his community and giving kids some of the same opportunities and more as he had as a kid. Adrian operates two non-profits. Adrian started a non-profit, Carolina Supreme Travel Basketball Organization comprised of young kids, age 16 and under, from the Clarendon County area who are committed to preparing themselves to compete at a highly competitive level of basketball around the US. The organization has an environment that promotes individual confidence, sportsmanship, self-esteem and leadership - valuable skills on and off the court. The second being Unity on the Hardwood SC, which holds alumni basketball games that brings students, alumni, family, friends, and communities all together in South Carolina and give scholarships to student-athletes and donations toward the girls’ and boys’ basketball programs.
Adrian is also a serial entrepreneur. Adrian is the owner of Gymboi Hendrix Promotions LLC, a company who provides DJ services for events such as weddings, corporate events, school functions, birthday parties and more for over 17 years serving states in SC, NC, GA and FL. Adrian also is the owner of Papa D’s Wings Bar. Papa D’s Wing Bar offers the best seasoned wings dripped in mouth-watering sauces in South Carolina.
When he’s not busy with his businesses or community initiatives, Adrian enjoys spending quality time with his family, traveling, cooking, and entertaining friends. He is a member of Liberty Hill AME Church and an inaugural life member of the Morris College National Alumni Association. Additionally, he is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Adrian resides in Manning, SC. Adrian has five children: three daughters—Grace, Fayeth, and Adrienne—and two sons—Brayden and Dallas.
